The Fruits of His Labor

October 2024, Plaster, Acrylic Paint, Wax, 12” x 12” x 3”

This work utilized mold-making techniques to create an extension of my earlier artwork “The Fruits of My Labor” using fruit to symbolize my partner’s journey into fatherhood. In this piece, I chose to push the color even further to give the fruit a whimsical and playful nature. Children often respond more to nurturing from their mother and play from their father so I liked that the masculine side of the arrangement was more bold and playful. In experimenting with wax I was able to push the color even further.
