Madeline Tyo-Hauser
My work focuses on themes of life cycles, femininity, sustainability, and the interconnected nature of the modern world. Nature has so much to teach us, yet we ignore it and dive deeper and deeper into a digital world. I seek to draw attention to our detachment from nature and encourage us to repair our relationship with the earth.
As a multimedia artist, I enjoy working with various materials and practices including painting, photography, printmaking, digital art, and more. I strive to give found objects a second life in my art to make my work as sustainable as possible by using existing materials or working with natural materials rather than buying new things to create with.
As our world becomes more and more artificial, from the food we eat to the intelligence we consume, I feel called to create artwork that speaks to our relationship with nature and highlights the beauty and inherent wisdom of the natural world that we so frequently ignore in favor of the convenience and comfort of modern life. I hope to inspire future generations to keep that connection to nature strong and see the value it has in our day-to-day lives.
